Qiu Yu of Mount Yu'e is rabbit-like, with a bird's beak, owl eyes, and a snake's tail. It sleeps when it sees a person, and its cry corresponds to its name. The closing line connects its appearance with damage involving locusts. The behavior deserves attention alongside the composite anatomy.
The same Chinese name is now used for the armadillo, but a shared name does not establish zoological identity. Nor should the locust line be turned into a pest-control ability. SYNREX's theme of combination refers to the assembled features and remains a contemporary interpretation.
