RETOLD FOR THE NETWORK

Nine-tailed and tiger-bodied, it governs the nine divisions of heaven. Lu Wu guards the boundary — what belongs to the sky, what to the earth; where one may pass, where one should stop.

OMENS
You guard boundaries, and you guard order. A sliver of light will stay lit for you at the gates of Kunlun.
Knowing where to stop is a strength, no less than knowing how to go on.

What the passage describes

Kunlun is called the emperor's lower capital, administered by the deity Lu Wu. The passage gives Lu Wu a tiger's body, nine tails, a human face, and tiger claws, then describes responsibilities for the divisions of heaven and the imperial garden's seasons. Nine tails, rather than nine heads, are the identifying detail here.

What not to read into it

A later sentence in the same passage describes Tu Lou, a four-horned, sheep-like man-eater. That description belongs to a different creature. An earlier SYNREX excerpt mistakenly included Tu Lou and conflated Lu Wu with Kaiming; it has been corrected. The site's guardian-of-boundaries theme is an interpretation of Lu Wu's responsibilities, not an additional classical quotation.
