Xiangliu serves Gonggong, has nine heads, feeds across nine mountains, and turns the places it reaches into marshes and streams. The surrounding passage continues beyond Yu's killing of the creature: its blood leaves land unsuitable for grain, and remediation proves difficult. The story concerns the aftermath as well as the monster.

Límites de la interpretación

Extracting only the nine heads turns the entry into a power ranking. Reading the water, blood, and unusable soil together reveals a different emphasis on lasting consequences. SYNREX's theme of unchecked expansion is a modern interpretation of those consequences, not an ecological theory stated in the ancient text.
